Who We Are

Wrisk is reinventing insurance for today’s digital consumer. In the same way that fintech companies have disrupted the traditional banking sector, we are reimagining financial platforms for a whole new generation of people.

The result is Wrisk: flexible insurance that adapts to fit your life. Our mobile-first platform lets people interact with their insurance provider with the same ease, speed and transparency they get from their other services. As well as protecting all the different aspects of their life with one simple plan, customers can pay monthly, instantly make changes to their cover and bring all their disclosure, payment and claims information together in a single app.

And because we believe that the modern consumer deserves transparency, we have invented a unique Wrisk Score – like a credit score for personal risk – that helps people understand how, and more importantly why, their insurance is priced a certain way.

Now, with some big brand partners, we are bringing our unique customer experience and platform to market to change how insurance is bought, sold and managed.

The Role

Insurance is, at its heart, a data product. We are looking for a passionate data professional to join us to help extract value and insight from the data that we collect - to inform our business strategy, determine our pricing, provide data to our partners, help us improve our rapidly evolving product, and scale and automate our operations.

If you join us, you will be working alongside a small but highly skilled cross-functional team of software engineers, designers, insurance experts and finance professionals. We build our own core technology in-house and you will liaise closely with our technology teams to improve the way that data is collected and processed. You will also be instrumental in evolving our data and reporting architectures and making sure they are fit for purpose as we scale.

As a small start up, you will be working in an exciting, fast-paced environment, with the chance to be involved in many different aspects of the business as we challenge the status quo in insurance.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret data, analyse results using statistical techniques and make recommendations to inform what we build for our customers and partners
  • Develop and implement databases, data collection systems, data analytics and other elements of our data strategy
  • Acquire data from primary or secondary data sources and maintain databases/data systems
  • Develop and support ongoing reporting and MI
  • Identify, analyse, and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets
  • Work with colleagues and partners to prioritise business and information needs
  • Identify, define and communicate new product and process improvement opportunities

Requirements

  • Proven working experience as a data analyst or business data analyst
  • Technical expertise regarding data models, database design development, data mining and segmentation techniques
  • Strong knowledge of and experience with reporting packages (e.g. Tableau, Looker), databases (e.g. Redshift, PostgreSQL), data processing languages and approaches (e.g. Python, SQL, Spark, DBT)
  • Data collection tools and approaches, ideally event based (e.g. Snowplow Analytics, Google Analytics, Segment.io)
  • Exposure to data warehousing and business intelligence approaches and architectures
  • Experience working in the AWS ecosystem
  • Knowledge of statistics and experience using statistical packages for analyzing datasets (Excel, SPSS, SAS etc)
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Adept at queries, report writing and presenting findings
  • BS in Mathematics, Economics, Computer Science, Information Management or Statistics
