Insurtech startup Wrisk makes three major hires, appointing Nimeshh Patel as COO, Stewart Duncan as Chief Data Officer and Sima Patel as Head of Marketing
Nimeshh, who was previously a member of Wrisk’s advisory board, will bring his solid track record in building international businesses which have data and technology at their core to help drive Wrisk forwards.
He has over 20 years’ experience and joins from BuzzFeed Europe, where he most recently held the position of VP Business Operations & Strategy. Previous positions also include VP EMEA at Drawbridge and COO at AOL Europe.
Other recent appointments to the Wrisk team include Stewart Duncan, who joins as Chief Data Officer, and Sima Patel as Head of Marketing.
In his previous role as Chief Analytics Officer at Simply Business, Stewart created a growth-focused data culture that helped deliver a £400m valuation and a successful exit to Travelers Insurance. Before this, he built and led international data and analytics teams at Hotels.com (part of Expedia) and Sony Computer Entertainment.
Sima brings 17 years’ experience in digital and product marketing to the table, which she gained in asset management and more recently at global ticket marketplace StubHub (an eBay company). As Head of Product Marketing, she was tasked with establishing a new global function for StubHub to drive product adoption. Whilst at BlackRock, Sima led digital marketing for the investment manager’s retail business in EMEA, and prior to that, established digital marketing channels at Schroders.
Wrisk CEO Niall Barton said: “Here at Wrisk we’ve got big ambitions – we’re giving insurance a much-needed digital upgrade to make the buying, maintaining and claiming on different types of insurance easy and painless. But we also know that we’re only as good as the people we hire. Fortunately, we’re building a truly exceptional team, and we’re delighted to be able to welcome Nimeshh, Stewart and Sima into the Wrisk family.”
The new appointments will join Wrisk’s already formidable team, led by CEO Niall Barton and CPO Darius Kumana.
Wrisk’s smartphone app is soon to be trialled as part of the FCA’s Sandbox programme and will launch later this year.
