At Wrisk, we had a fantastic 2018, here are a few of our highlights from the year.

Our year in 2018 felt like 2-in-1, but as they say, start-up life is a bit like dog years.

As a team, we took a moment last week to reflect on what’ve achieved and goals for 2019. Aside from the team more than doubling in size the past year, here are some of our proudest moments.

We spent our first quarter busily working with our insurance partners and the regulators to get our product ready for ‘sale’, after this point, the Wrisk team has been in full force the whole way through.

April - Wrisk is in the hands of its first customers 🙌

We launched our beta in the FCA’s Sandbox. We finally got real customers on the app, we had over 1,100 people sign up for access to the Wrisk beta, who helped us test and become some of our very first customers, before our nationwide launch in July.

Wrisk also featured in a special Times supplement ‘The Future of Insurance’ - this was a great piece which was targeted towards industry and business professionals.

May & June - What a start to summer 🌞

Wrisk win DIA Diamond Award 
The world’s largest insurtech conference in Amsterdam. Wrisk unveiled the app publicly for the very first time to an audience of over 1,200. In a short Ted-style talk, Co-Founder Darius Kumana, gave a live demo of Wrisk. We pitched against 50 other start-ups (shortlisted from 200) for a chance to win one of 6 DIA Diamond awards. We walked away feeling on top of the world, with a DIAmond in hand!

Smashing our second crowdfunding target
On 29 May, we publicly launched our second crowdfunding campaign on Seedrs. The following day, just after midday, we hit our target of £500,000 - less than 48 hours of being live. Whoa.

We took the decision to keep the campaign open and overfund, and closed the round some 16 days later having raised £1,044,630. Wrisk now has over 1,100 investors across 29 countries.

Whilst all this took place, the team back in the office were busy fine-tuning the Wrisk app and getting ready for a nationwide launch.

Wrisk were invited to a panel discussion at Goldman Sachs’ European Financials Conference in Frankfurt on 6 June. We spoke in front of – and alongside – some of the world’s smartest investment firms. Our panel discussion led to non-stop questions from the floor, in what was a truly exhilarating moment for us.

July - We push the button on Wrisk's App Store debut 🚀

We learnt a lot from our successful beta test, and were finally ready to launch Wrisk to the App Store in July for our contents product. To date the app has got rave 5* reviews with 150+ ratings.

September - Wrisk & BMW first joint product launch 🚗

We launched our first joint product with BMW and MINI. We are now the sole supplier of BMW and MINI Car Insurance in the UK, this includes seven days’ free insurance with the purchase of any new or used BMW or MINI vehicle through the BMW and MINI UK network. We also offer fully comprehensive annual car insurance for customers who wish to continue their cover beyond the 7-day free cover.

Wrisk's Roadmap for 2019... 📅

We are continually making refinements to our app. Here are a few of the larger items on the roadmap which are in progress for 2019: 

🚘 Your ride: The team are busy building out our approach to car insurance within the Wrisk app. Whilst work is well under-way, we’re not quite ready to announce a release date.

👫Refer-a-friend: We know word-of-mouth referral is our best friend. To support this, we are working on a referral program for our customers.
